Porridge

Porridge is a traditional popular dish in many Arabic countries, prepared from wheat or corn flour cooked with water until it thickens. Porridge is usually served as a hemisphere and eaten by hand. Honey, ghee, date paste, or yogurt can be added to improve the flavor.

Ingredients:

1 cup wheat or corn flour

2 cups water

1/2 cup margarine

1/4 cup honey

pinch of salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Ingredients:
2 cups white flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup ghee
1/2 cup natural honey
1/4 teaspoon saffron
1/4 cup toasted and crushed almonds
A pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
Instructions:
Prepare the saffron: In a small cup, soak the saffron in 2 tablespoons of hot water and set aside for 10 minutes.
Prepare the porridge: In a large pot, bring the water and salt to a boil over medium heat.
Add the flour: Gradually add the flour while continuously stirring with a wooden spoon to avoid lumps. Keep stirring until the mixture becomes thick and smooth.
Add the ghee: Gradually add the ghee while continuing to stir until it is fully melted and incorporated into the mixture.
Add the saffron: Add the saffron mixture and ground cardamom to the porridge and stir well to combine the flavors.
Prepare the honey: In a small pot, heat the honey over low heat until it becomes liquid and warm.
Serve: Pour the porridge into a serving dish, then drizzle the warm honey over it. Garnish with the crushed toasted almonds.
Tips:
You can add a pinch of ground cinnamon for an extra flavor.
Serve the porridge hot with a cup of tea or coffee.
